Frequently Asked Questions About Blinds
What blinds are the best for wet areas?
My suggestion for wet areas are a wood look or Aluminium blinds. They are durable and very suited to high humidity
What blinds allow me to see my view but give me privacy?
I suggest sunscreen blinds, they are perfect for still being able to view outside, and yet they still give you privacy during the day.
Types Of Blinds
There are a huge variety of blinds. These can be chosen based on the style you are looking for, light and heat control.
Honeycomb / pleated blind are made of 2 or more layer of fabric bonded together to form cell like compartments that trap air.
They are perfect for increasing the insulation to your windows. They are available in block out or semi transparent fabrics.
The size of the fabric cells are either 10mm or 20mm.
Honeycomb blinds are also able to be used in awkward shaped windows and skylights.
Honeycomb blinds when fully pulled up take very little window space.
They also provide the versatility of opening from the top or bottom to allow the perfect balance of light and privacy.
Roller blinds come in a wide range of textures, patterns, colours, and Block out fabrics. They can be controlled by chain control or motorisation.
I can also supply double blinds with sunscreen fabric and block out combined.
They are great in contemporary situations on large windows with little or no stacking ability and anywhere clean modern lines are required.
Roller blinds can be back rolled to give better privacy as the fabric is closer to the glass and window frame.
The alternative is to front roll, this covers the roller and falls from the front of the roller, and gives a visually better look. It also allows the blind to pass window catches.
Sunscreen blind provide privacy during the day (Remember when the lights are on at night you can see into the room) and filter harsh light.
Sunscreen blinds offer light control as well as protecting furnishings from the sun.
Depending on the size of the mesh you can still see out at your view through a sunscreen blind
Wooden shutters are a beautiful combination of function, durability and practicality. They provide light and heart control.
Woodend shutter are available in a painted or timber finish.
Each shutter is custom made for your home, they are made to fit your exact window or door, as well as having adjustable slats that dovetail for a tight fit.
Timber Look Blinds
- Easy to clean and maintain.
- Great for use in wet areas and will remain stable in higher heat environments e.g. kitchens and bathrooms.
- These blinds are made from a special thermoplastic alloy resin.
- They are impervious to moisture and resist cracking, warping, and fading.
Venetian Blinds (Metal)
Aluminium metal blinds come in 25 mm and 50 mm slats.
There is an expensive range of fashion colours to suit every home.
They are perfect for light control, ventilation and privacy.
Venetian Blinds (Wooden)
Timber blinds are available in 25 mm or 50 mm slats.
These blinds are beautiful if you like the natural variation of the timber grain.
These blinds can be used in unusual shaped windows or door.
They are not suitable for wet areas such as bathrooms, or windows that get full sun and heat.
Vertical blinds are a wonderful way to control light and give you privacy for your work or home.
They are great for dressing large areas of glass such as, floor to ceiling windows and sliding doors.
Vertical blinds offer a number of stacking options.
Vertical blinds are also good for angled windows.
Roman blinds made from fabric and provide a clean stylish look to a room.
Roman blinds provide good insulation and use less fabric than curtains because there are no gathers.
I suggest using a headrail with chain to control the rise and fall of the blind, and blackout lining.
