High Altitude

This spectacular home nestled high up the Pukaki river overlooking Mt Cook, Aoraki National Park, has been created to give the impression of been there forever.

I was tasked to create a home that feels like it blends into the landscape around it. Using natural timber and stone this enhances the surrounding landscape.

We used many recycled elements, including timber beams from the Kurow bridge, recycled timber including the existing nuts and bolts for the mantel piece and blade shears and farm implements for the door handles.

The bathroom and En suite bench tops are also made from recycled timber.

To create the theme of having been there forever we used William Morris curtain fabrics with heaving lining to add extra luxury and warmth.

Both kitchens were made in a more traditional style to stay in keeping with the integrity of the lodge.
